"God's Word will Transform Your Life"

Psalm 119

God’s Word is:

… the record of His voice that He’s left with us.

… the primary way we learn about God’s desire and direction for our lives.

… the way we understand change.

… what gives us a plan to actually mature and grow.

… what we lean on for wisdom and insight and understanding.

“The most transforming practice available to us is the

disciplined intake of scripture.” –- Donald Whitney

97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.

98 Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.

99 I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.

100 I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts.

101 I hold back my feet from every evil way, bin order to keep your word.

102 I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me.

103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

104 Through your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way. Psalm 119:97-104 (ESV)

2 Two Specific Things… we gain from reading the Bible:

1.  WISDOM

v. 98 -- “Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.”

THE WORD: “wisdom” means “the ability to look at life and its difficulties from God's point of view.”

2. UNDERSTANDING

vv. 100-102 -- I understand more than the aged, for I keep your precepts. I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me.”

THE WORD: “understand” means “the ability to respond to life's situations and difficulties from God's viewpoint.”

HOW… do you move from knowing what the Bible potentially provides to actively accepting that gift?

“Scripture Intake” - 4 Specific Things that will help us get started.
